From Port Chalmers you will be transported to the Historical Dunedin Railway station for the train adventure of a lifetime through some of New Zealand’s most beautiful scenery which cannot be seen from the road. Once the train chugs out of the station, sit back and relax as your train negotiates through the narrow Taieri Gorge, through tunnels and over viaducts while soaring above the river.

Departure times may also vary for each Ship but we are fully conversant of these restraints and will always have you back in plenty of time. Haven’t lost anyone yet!

Train returns 1:30pm approx – Optional city sights excursion is available upon your return.


Train Journey from Dunedin to Pukerangi

Departing from Dunedin’s beautiful railway station the Taieri Gorge Railway begins its scenic journey into some of New Zealand’s most ever-changing, spectacular and iconic scenery. The train travels through the Southern parts of Dunedin city until it arrives at Wingatui junction where it turns off onto the Taieri branch. From here the train sneaks across the Taieri Plains and climbs into the Taieri Gorge, a narrow and deep gorge carved out over aeons by the ancient Taieri River.

The train negotiates the gorge with ease as it travels through ten tunnels and over countless bridges and viaducts.

Includes City Hop On – Hop Off Tour, at least three key photo stops are offered with the chance for you to get off the bus for the best shots of Dunedin which typically include the lookout, Baldwin Street and the Railway Station.
